Belmont Abbey College Athletics has agreed with WGNC 1450 AM to carry all baseball games, home and away, on air and on the live streaming portion of the station’s website www.wgnc.net . The broadcast deal begins on opening day February 1, 2013, as the Crusaders open the year against Francis Marion University in the new Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. Among the schedule of games will be this year’s live coverage of the Crusaders at the 2013 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship in Burlington, NC.
“Every coach has a vision of where they want to take their program,” Belmont Abbey Head Baseball Coach Scott Brickman said. “This announcement is another huge step toward fulfilling that mission. We are ecstatic that we will be able to bring Crusader baseball live to the families, fans, and alumni throughout the nation.”
The contract also includes a weekly coaches’ show with Brickman that will be held at many of the athletic department’s growing number of corporate partners. The show will air from 5-6pm every Monday night of the 2013 baseball season.
“We want to introduce the WGNC listenership to what is truly worthwhile in our baseball program,” Belmont Abbey Director of Marketing and Broadcasting Brian Rushing said. “Part of that is having Scott Brickman and his staff on the air. Between Coach Brickman, Kyle Geswein and Pete Jenkins, we have an opportunity to entertain folks with an interactive broadcast that will go deep into college baseball. At the same time, we will make it interesting for the more casual fan to listen in, strictly because it will be fun to become acquainted with the personalities on the show.”
